At present I am using the templates to get a feel for how the software works. Today I have discovered how to edit the semi-transparent photographs as seen above. Place the mouse just below the top of the photo, right click and use the replace photo option. Nothing else seems to work for this - dragging photos, editing file names etc.

How Do I add a favicon to my Web page? Version 7 onwards To create a 'favicon': Draw or drag on to a web page the image that you want to use.* Right-click the image and click 'Names' Type 'favicon' into the Apply names box and click Add then Close. *The image can be any size as it will be scaled to the right size automatically when displayed in a browser. You can use only one 'favicon' per website.  The object can reside on any of the pages within your document and does not need to be repeated to all pages. It will also not be shown on the webpage upon export. Not all web browsers will display the favicon when your page is loaded from your local disc. Once your site is published the favicon is supported in all popular web browsers.

CAN I INSERT PHP INTO XARA? Yes! You can insert your own PHP code into a placeholder, please see this article. If you wish to insert code at the very beginning of a page, add your code to the placeholder's BODY section and click on OK to close the dialog. Right-click on the placeholder > Names and apply the name "". HOW DO I CREATE A PLACEHOLDER IN XARA? A Placeholder is an object in Xara Web Designer which you replace with another embedded object.  A Placeholder can be replaced with HTML Code, a Flash file or another graphic file.  This allows you to embed a great number of services directly in to a Xara Web designer web page, such as Google Adsense, videos, maps, album slideshows and thousands of other available services and widgets. Creating a Placeholder with the Rectangle tool Select the Rectangle tool and draw a rectangle in your document. Set the width and height of the rectangle to be the dimensions of the external object you wish to insert in to your web page You can now position the rectangle and apply the code provided by the widget provider to the rectangle via Web Properties | Placeholder tab. Enable Re-generate placeholder image automatically to display the generated code.

“Man's mind, once

stretched by a new

idea, never regains its

original dimensions."

This website has been built using Xara. I have recently been experimenting with using this graphical web design program, partly as a way of ensuring that my websites are more mobile friendly. There is quite a steep learning curve for this software and I thought along the way I would keep a blog of useful tips and hints. I hope it is helpful
